I went to Chicago for work. I met Oprah, Michael Jordan, and Obama (FYI: the picture with the speck of light is his house. It's quite nice inside).
I went for a conference, and didn't get to explore Chicago as much as I would have liked. It reminds me of European cities more than any other U.S. city ever has. I'm gonna make Brett go back with me sometime. At the Sears/Willis Tower, I discovered I have a fear of heights. I never knew.

Mansfield's premiere waterpark! We liked it. It is premiere and all. I like my hair the most in the picture.

I love our electric company! It's a co-op and they offer free energy inspections. They came and gave us 50 energy efficient light bulbs for free and told us we use less energy than most people in our area (surprising since Brett sometimes turns our air down to 66 degrees at night. I get cold at 78 and I occasionally turn blue.) Other random facts: it costs about a 50 cents to run the dryer, 20 cents for the dishwasher, 8 cents to run the TV for four hours. And we only spend $25 / month on hot water. Baths may go on. Amen! They also gave us a thing to put around our hot water heater and they'll refund our air conditioner service each year. (I didn't know air conditioners needed servicing.) Also, if you have a dirty air filter it can double your bill. The next month after we left our air at 72 during the day (as opposed to 70 or 69 when Brett thought I wasn't looking and didn't mind not feeling my toes) and only 67 at night (as opposed to 66/65 at night) and switching out most our light bulbs that we hardly ever use, our bill went down by $25 even though it got hotter outside. I'd tell you the name of our co-op, but you'd have to move to Johnson County.
I got an iPhone for my birthday. I love it. Because: we can use the maps when we're out and don't have to print maps at home anymore, we can find phone numbers easily now when we're out, calendar--i like having it with me all the time and i like that i can have alerts to remind me of stuff, i can check facebook/google reader when I'm out or on my lunch break now which I feel like saves time even though it might not, i like having something to do when i'm waiting at places -- i even read a whole book on my phone this summer, i have people's addresses with me all the time now, i can listen to good music wherever i am now, i can listen to pandora wherever now, i always have my camera with me now and a videocamera, i take pictures of recipes now instead of writing down the ingredients, i can have pictures of recipes i like a lot and always have them with me even if i'm not planning on making them, to do lists at my fingertips, i can google stuff wherever now, my email alerts me instead of me having to check all the time, i like the contacts part of this phone...it's easy to keep everybody in it (doctors, businesses, etc.) so i always have everything i need and don't have to wait til i'm home to make appts, i love having our bank and mint.com on my phone...so nice to be able to pay a bill if i forget or make transfers wherever. I just have the 3gs..i'm not that fancy.
